The preaching ministry is the time in every service where we as believers gather around the word of God: our only authority for faith and practice. The principles of God's word form the basis for every apect of our worship, every conviction we hold, and every standard we maintain. Psalm 138:2 tells us "thou [God] hast magnified thy word above all thy name", Jesus Christ is declared to be the Word of God incarnate (John 1:1), and it is only the inspired word of God that can be found profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:1).
Yet not all "preaching" is alike. One of the greatest tragedies of modern churches is the lack of true Biblical teaching and exhortation found in the time of the service dedicated to "preaching". This time should not be designated for entertainment, for story-telling, for political speeches, or for motivational lectures that make us feel good about ourselves. The time around God's word is a time for each member of the body to look into the Bible and judge themselves in light of its commandments, making changes where necessary to be conformed to its teachings (James 1:22-25).
This is the goal of every service at Legacy Baptist Church. You will find the preaching to be verse-by-verse, expositional, and in a book-series format that endeavors to give each believer the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27). The members of Legacy are exhorted to be more like the Word of God (Jesus Christ) through the precepts and principles found in God's inspired, infallible, inerrant, perfectly preserved Scriptures. Legacy's preaching is literal, historical, grammatical, and contextual.
